“My ultimate goal in power-slap is to motivate more women of my culture to join and eventually be the champion for the heavy weight division.”

Taahine Tonga makes her Power Slap debut bringing a professional wrestling background, championship experience, and the distinction of becoming the first Tongan fighter to compete in Power Slap.

A professional wrestler, Tonga has competed alongside her twin sister Tala-vou, with the pair appearing in AEW in 2021 and WOW – Women of Wrestling in 2023. Together, the Tonga Twins captured the WOW Tag Team Championship and made a name for themselves in professional wrestling.

Their path into wrestling began with encouragement from Ata Johnson, the mother of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who pushed the twins to pursue the sport. Now, Tonga is taking on a new challenge while representing her Tongan heritage on the Power Slap stage.

“Fighting in power-slap means so much more to me because I get to represent my TONGAN culture on a big platform/stage and show the world who I am.”

For Tonga, Power Slap is also an opportunity to inspire more women from her culture to compete while pursuing her own championship ambitions.

“My ultimate goal in power-slap is to motivate more women of my culture to join and eventually be the champion for the heavy weight division.”

Outside of competition, Tonga is a mother of two sons, with one currently training to become a boxer. She also hopes her Power Slap journey could eventually lead to a unique matchup against her own twin sister.

From making history alongside her sister in professional wrestling to becoming the first Tongan fighter in Power Slap, Taahine Tonga enters her debut ready to represent her culture on a new stage.
