When and why did you start training to be a Slap Fighter? I met my friend Esteban in 2015, and through him, I learned about Power Slap and his uncle, Azael Rodriguez, who was a Season 1 competitor. In 2021, Esteban and I decided to apply for future seasons. While we didn’t hear back immediately, my younger brother moved to San Diego to pursue his MMA and bare-knuckle career. By late 2023, we both decided to take the leap into Power Slap. My brother earned a contract and competed on the Power Slap 7 undercard, and when we arrived at the UFC APEX, I met Erica, who offered me a spot on Season 3: Road to the Title. I’m grateful for this opportunity and the journey that led me here.
What does fighting in Power Slap mean for you and your career? Power Slap represents more than just a competition for me. It’s a platform to inspire others, spread positivity, and glorify God through the discipline and dedication required. It’s a blessing to represent my culture and my family, and I hope to be an example of consistency, perseverance, and faith.
What are your ultimate goals in fighting? My ultimate goal is to leave a lasting impact on the sport, not just through my performance but by coaching future generations of fighters. I hope to guide others in Power Slap, sharing what I’ve learned about discipline, consistency, and faith. My goal is to be a mentor, helping new fighters and veterans alike, and ensuring that the legacy I leave is one of service and growth for the sport.
What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done? I’ve made mistakes, just like everyone else. But I’ve always used those experiences to learn and grow. I believe it’s important to humble oneself and embrace the lessons that come from our challenges.
What’s the best thing you’ve ever done? The best thing I’ve done is to inspire and positively impact the lives of others. Whether through my journey or the lessons I’ve learned, I hope to help others realize their potential and find their own paths to success.
Is there anyone you’d like to slap fight against? At the moment, I’m focused on improving myself and continuing to grow in the sport. My main goal is to be the best version of myself, and I know that when I stay true to that, the rest will follow.
