“For me it’s a part of my legacy to compete in any and all martial arts combat sports.”

Ace “O’ Spadez” Samples makes his Power Slap debut bringing nearly three decades of martial arts experience and a career that has taken him through nearly every major form of combat sports.

Originally from Athens, Georgia, Samples began training in martial arts at just seven years old and has spent the past 12 years competing professionally. His experience includes MMA, bare-knuckle boxing, traditional boxing, kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Among his career highlights is a 12-second head kick knockout in an MMA bout in February 2016.

Beyond competing, Samples has spent a decade coaching wrestling and has worked as a combat sports judge, inspector, and referee for the past three years. He also owns a gym and a gutter business.

Samples was initially approached by both BKFC and Power Slap during their early stages but chose to pursue bare-knuckle boxing first. After years of competing across different disciplines, he began practicing his slap technique in preparation for an eventual transition.

“For me it’s a part of my legacy to compete in any and all martial arts combat sports.”

Now 36, Samples sees Power Slap as the next chapter in his lengthy fighting career. He enters the lightweight division with championship ambitions and has already identified reigning champion Anthony “Babyface” Trujillo as someone he hopes to challenge.

His debut comes against William Shockey, an experienced Power Slap competitor. While Samples acknowledges Shockey’s advantage in slap-fighting experience, he believes his own extensive combat sports background and years of preparation will make the difference.

Outside of competition, Samples is passionate about mental health advocacy. Having survived suicide attempts and experienced his own mental health struggles, he now serves as an athlete spokesman for Fight Against Suicide. He hopes to use his platform to support others facing similar challenges and encourage young athletes to seek help when they need it.

“Open up about my mental health and dropping my egotistical tendencies in order to set a better example for my kids.”

Fatherhood has also become a defining part of Samples’ life, motivating him to grow both personally and professionally. Alongside his championship aspirations, he wants his fighting career to leave a positive impact through mentorship, bullying prevention, and mental health awareness.

With decades of combat sports experience behind him, Ace “O’ Spadez” Samples enters Power Slap determined to make his mark in the lightweight division while building a legacy that extends beyond competition.
