Power Slap 8 Preview
In the headline event, scheduled for five rounds, Da Crazy Hawaiian is looking for his 15th win in his slap fighting career – and 13th victory by way of knockout – when he takes on Van Heerden.
It is a clash in which the reigning champ is the big favourite, although an upset cannot be ruled out against South African Van Heerden, who is aptly nicknamed ‘The Pitbull’.
Van Heerden is ranked number four in the Super Heavyweight division, amassing two wins and one defeat in his short Power Slap career.
Elsewhere on the Power Slap 8 fight card, Jackie ‘The Hybrid’ Cataline takes on Katharina ‘Germany Gypsy’ Lehner, while Wesley ‘All the Smoke’ Drain clashes with Isaih ‘Pretty Boy’ Quinones.
There is also Austin ‘Turp Daddy Slim’ Turpin vs Vernon ‘The Mechanic’ Cathey, Kamil ‘Polar Bear’ Marusarz vs Vasilii ‘Dumpling’ Kamotskii and Dayne ‘Da Hitman Hawaiian’ Viernes vs Duane ‘The Iron Giant’ Crespo.
It is going to be an action-packed evening in Las Vegas – to say the very least!
Power Slap 8 Odds and Tips
Da Crazy Hawaiian to beat Van Heerden: -250
While Van Heerden stands an outside chance of victory, the odds are stacked against him. And with Da Crazy Hawaiian winning the crucial coin toss and therefore slapping first, it makes things all the more difficult for Van Heerden. This fight could be over well before the scheduled fifth round.
VanZant to beat Wolmarans: -120
It is tough to split the two ahead of VanZant’s debut, with Wolmarans a slight favourite. But with VanZant winning the coin toss, she has the chance to kickstart her Power Slap career in style. Her power as a professional mixed martial artist could steer her to an epic victory.
Blackburn to beat Muiz: +130
Although defending champion Muniz goes into this matchup as the clear favourite, which is understandable, the headline Welterweight bout is where we may see a big upset. Blackburn will be striking first at Power Slap 8 and he is coming off the back of a shock victory at Power Slap 7, when he KO’d Chris Thomas. A fourth career win for Blackburn is firmly on the cards.
Cathey to beat Turpin: +200
Despite Cathey being ranked below Turpin in the Light Heavyweight division, he is the big favourite to bag a fourth career victory.
