Pressure makes diamonds.

Dontae “.500 Magnum” Smiley is a professional wrestler, former CrossFit competitor, and athlete driven by faith, resilience, and redemption as he continues his journey in Power Slap.

With backgrounds in professional wrestling, basketball, and competitive fitness, Smiley brings a unique blend of athleticism, explosiveness, and performance experience into slap fighting. He first began training for the sport after being invited to a Power Slap training camp in May, immediately connecting with the intensity and controlled aggression the sport demands.

“It’s right in line with the wavelength I like to operate in — calculated violence.”

After suffering a knockout loss in his debut nearly a year ago, Smiley now returns to Power Slap with a renewed mindset and a strong desire to prove that one setback does not define a competitor.

“Pressure makes diamonds. One match shouldn’t define you — it should refine you.”

Ahead of his matchup with Hunter Hassanin, Smiley acknowledged the challenge in front of him while emphasizing his hunger to redeem himself and reestablish his place in the division.

“Hunter’s 2-0… I’m 0-1 coming in to redeem myself from my first loss and prove I can really play this strike game like I know I can.”

For Smiley, Power Slap has become something much deeper than competition. He describes the sport as part of his personal growth journey, crediting faith and perseverance for helping shape him through both victories and adversity.

“My career has shown God is in control and He has to be glorified through the wins and losses.”

Outside of competition, Smiley says the greatest accomplishments of his life have been finding his wife, committing himself to Christ, and fully believing in his own purpose and abilities.

Focused on climbing back through the rankings, “.500 Magnum” has one long-term goal firmly in mind — earning another opportunity against Stunt Marshall and proving how much he has evolved since their first meeting.
