“My goal as in anything is to be the best. This match is only the beginning to reign of dominance.”
Raven “Hulk” Saunders makes their Power Slap debut bringing an elite athletic résumé built at the highest levels of track and field.
A three-time Olympian, Saunders won a silver medal in shot put at the 2020 Olympic Games and competed at the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Olympics. They also captured four NCAA shot put championships while competing at Southern Illinois University and Ole Miss, along with a USA shot put title in 2017.
Saunders first picked up shot put in ninth grade and went on to build an international career despite battling significant hip injuries and undergoing multiple surgeries. Now, they are trading the throwing circle for the Power Slap stage and embracing an entirely different way to showcase their strength.
“I’m not a violent person but I’m a powerful and dominant person. Power Slap will allow for me to bring a stronger presence and level of aggression to that of the shot put.”
Saunders had long been interested in trying a combat sport before finding their path through track and field. When the opportunity to join Power Slap’s heavyweight division arrived, they saw it as a chance to finally explore that side of competition.
“This will give me a chance to show my strength in a way that would get me disqualified in track and field but I’ve definitely thought about.”
Known as “Hulk,” a nickname that pays tribute to the Geechee people of the southeastern United States, Saunders has also used their platform to speak publicly about mental health, LGBTQ rights, and racial injustice.
With Olympic-level power, years of experience under pressure, and the same ambition that carried them to an Olympic medal, Saunders enters Power Slap with their sights set high.
